From Our Principal ...
Dear Families
Much to my wife’s disappointment, I have decided to do Movember this year.
Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
Their goal this year is to do what others can’t. The aim is to unite experts from around the world to collaborate on projects that will fundamentally change the way men in need are treated and supported. To ensure our impact is significant, far-reaching and long-lasting, we prioritise funding for the three biggest health issues facing men: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Like many of us, my family has felt the impact of mental health and suicide. I think it is a social tragedy that we struggle to comprehend or deal with. Whether you support me or another fundraiser is immaterial. Of far more importance is awareness and connection with those around us. Many of us still struggle to ask or answer the question, Are you ok?
The link to my page is below. Thank you for your support

Have a great week and hug your kids.

Qld Child Oral Health Study - Thank You

The QCOHS team would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to St John's, parents and students who participated in The Queensland Child Oral Health Study (QCOHS). Your contribution in the form of an oral examination and completion of a study questionnaire has been invaluable and will help us gain a better understanding of the oral health of children in Queensland. Your family’s involvement will make a substantial contribution that will continue to benefit Queensland and Australian children for many years.

Library News ...
Dare I mention that there are only FOUR weeks to go until the end of Term Four 2023. The festive season is nearly upon us! So, with that in mind, I will give you a quick run down of a couple of titles in our wonderful library collection!!

An Australian Christmas is threatened when drought takes hold. A little girl has only one wish—for rain. Will her wish come true?
All I Want for Christmas is Rain is an engaging and entertaining way for children to stay aware of the current drought situation in Australia. Educating children on the effects of drought on farmers and their families plays an important role in proactive water conservation and awareness. All I Want for Christmas is Rain also highlights the importance of sharing and giving – illustrating that sometimes the best gifts are the ones we can share with others.

Against a very Australian setting of drought and bushfire, a little pig called Applesauce learns that Christmas comes from the heart. This beautiful tale is a clever and whimsical take on the Christmas story - from the bestselling author - illustrator team of Glenda Millard and Stephen Michael King. Applesauce is convinced that there can be no Christmas this year - her heart, where Christmas comes from, is as small as a gumnut and there was no Christmas in it at all. But then something special happens and Applesauce discovers that Christmas does not need to be all about glitzy decorations, fancy foods, and expensive presents.
Congratulations to Isabelle T (6B) for correctly unravelling our first anagram this term.
