Informer Term 2 Week 7
From Our Principal...
Dear Families
All schools that are managed under the guidance of Catholic Education- Diocese of Rockhampton, go through a five year cycle of quality assurance and accreditation. Some of this process is with the Non- State Schools Accreditation Board of Queensland, but a significant portion of it is driven internally as the academic evidence and research continues to show us that schools and educators who reflect on their performance continue to grow, and continue to be environments where student learning is the primary focus.
This year sees St John’s in the second year of our School Review and Improvement cycle. In the coming weeks all families, staff and students will be offered opportunity to participate in an online survey looking at the performance of St John’s as a school. Your feedback is valued and totally confidential. The surveys are conducted by an external provider and the school only sees the collated data that is gathered. Please take the opportunity to have your say.
This year is my fourth year as Principal at St John’s. As part of the employment contract of school leadership, we are required to undertake our own review. All staff, both teaching and support are currently being surveyed as well as key members of the P&F and School Board. Our regional supervisor and a peer principal will be at St John’s on Monday 21 June to validate the self-review that I will write as part of the process. Members of the P&F and School Board will be interviewed as part of this review. A cross section of staff, parents and students will be interviewed on the day. The review will look at commendations and recommendations across all aspects of my role as Principal.
This week sees us heading into winter and the traditional flu seasons. Please remember we are still in the COVID era and that the guidelines in relation to Covid 19 are still in place. I have attached the most current link.

2021 Athletics Carnival Wrap-up
The Athletics Carnival is over for another year and it was wonderful to see great sportsmanship, team spirit and strong competition on Friday!
Records tumbled, voices cheered and hearts beat very fast throughout the day.
And to add to the great atmosphere, we were able to welcome back our parents to join us in the cheering and celebrations throughout the day.
The Athletics Carnival would not have run as smoothly as it did without the commitment of all the staff, volunteers, and friends who lent a hand on the day. And of course, to our students, who ran fast, cheered hard and put in 100% into every event – we thank you!
As always, the Athletics Carnival serves two purposes – an opportunity for our students to participate fully in a variety of athletics events and put their PE skills into practice as well as a selection for the Gladstone Athletics Trials.
Those students born in 2009, 2010 and 2011 who placed first or second in a championship event has been selected to represent St John’s for the Gladstone trials. Notes were sent home today and further information will be forwarded to selected students, once it is available to us. If you have any questions regarding Gladstone Athletics, please contact Mrs Graham.
