From Our Principal ...
Dear Families
We are back for the second half of the year and experience tells us that it will fly even quicker than the first two terms. I hope the break was a chance to reconnect and spend time as a family. As always, there is usually plenty to still do. I actually had time to do some reading that wasn’t work related. I came across this list on the internet, no author was referenced but it was described as the most important things we need to learn
The list had nothing to do with money, success or fame, but if we can be honest with ourselves and even use it as a conversation starter with our kids or loved ones, there would be some very self-aware and emotionally literate conversations happening.
The list was:
What works?
What doesn't work?
What makes you laugh?
What makes you cry?
What you love?
What you hate?
Who makes you happy?
Who makes you sad?
Where you are strong?
Where you are weak?
Hope this works for you.
Have a great week and hug your kids.
Regards,
Jamie Emerick
Principal.

Gladstone Instrumental Music Workshops
During the last week of Term 2, several of our students enjoyed attending the annual Gladstone Instrumental Music Workshops with students from other independent schools and home schooled children. The workshops provided an opportunity for all students who learn an instrument to mix with students from other schools and work with experienced local and visiting tutors, as well as a guest conductor. The students worked on various pieces that would be considered challenging, but not unattainable for their level. The concert on the final afternoon gave the students the opportunity to showcase the music they had been working on.

AFL Gala Day
At the end of Term 2, two teams, one girls and one boys, competed in the interschool AFL Gala Day at Boyne Island. Well done to both teams on your 100% effort and sportspersonship. Thank you to Mr Langdon and Coach Jarrod for coaching the teams on the day.

Port to Park Fun Run - Raises Funds for Our School
Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) Port to Park Fun Run can help us raise important funds for our school community and we’d love as many of our students and families to participate on Sunday 18 August.
The event will run in GPC's beautiful parklands, highlighting all three areas - East Shores, The Gladstone Marina and Spinnaker Park.
This year there will be three races for participants to choose from including the 10 kilometre Koongo Dash, the new 5 kilometre Koommonka sprint and the 3 kilometre Yallarm Family Run. The race names recognise the language of the Traditional Owners of the land - the Bailai and Gooreng Gooreng, and Gurang nations, with Koongo meaning place of water and Yallarm meaning place of shells and Koommonka meaning Possum.
Students can register to participate in Port to Park as individuals or with their family for the 3km, 5km and/or 10km events and their registration fee will be directed back to our school. Make sure you nominate our school when registering!
So get your runners ready and start limbering up so we can raise some vital funds for our school.
You can register here at Port to Park.
Port to Park is proudly supported by a number of local corporations including Gladstone Industry Leadership Group, Squadron Energy, Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre and Gladstone Regional Council, Santos GLNG and SMIT Lamnalco.
