From Our Principal ...
Dear Families
As I was working through education websites during the week I came across a resource site for counsellors that had a list they titled as a Reminder for Hard Days. The original list then had the added wisdom of many counsellors attached to it.
- A bad day does not equal a bad life. (One day does not define who you are.)
- Not all thoughts are true. (Phew!!)
- Feelings are not facts. (But all your feelings are real, valid and allowed.)
- The only way out is through. (Bugger.)
- Your worth is not dependent on circumstances. (You are lovable and enough always.)
- Nothing stays the same. (Life guarantees it.)
- You can't be everything to everyone. (But you can be true to yourself.)
- Be gentle with yourself and always trust your inner voice, strength and resilience.
- You are not alone. It is ok to ask for help. (And be vulnerable.)
- Focus on the things you can control. Let go of the rest. (This is easier said than done.)
One of the great tragedies of life is that we spend so much time worrying about what other people think that we aren’t fully present and engaged in our own lives.
Life continues to show me that most people tend to be so consumed by their own issues and problems, that worrying about someone else is the last thing on their minds. Take the time each day to be engaged and present to those you love, they are the ones that count.
Have a great week and hug your kids.
Regards,
Jamie Emerick
Principal.

For families paying via direct debit, this is still current, and the statement is for information purposes only, showing recent payments and charges.
Payments may be made by cash, cheque, direct debit, internet banking, EFTPOS or through Parent Lounge, either in full or in instalments (weekly, fortnightly or monthly).

2025 Cross Country Wrap Up
This week we hosted our postponed 2025 St John’s Cross Country. A huge congratulations goes out to all of our students for putting in their very best efforts. There was some great racing, with great tenacity, stamina and determination!
For our Prep students it was their very first Cross Country race and for our Year 6 students, it was their last race in a primary school setting. We hope the race was enjoyed by all our students as we know they have worked very hard leading up to the event.
While not everyone received a ribbon, I am sure everyone achieved their personal goals and should be very proud of their efforts.
As always, I thank our brilliant parent (and grandparents!) community for always supporting our students in all aspects of school life at St John’s and to our amazing St John’s staff for always going beyond expectations to make our events smooth and enjoyable for all.

Athletics Carnival – Student Roll Marking
When students arrive at school between 8.10am and 8:40am for this year’s Athletics Carnival (Friday 6 June), all students are to put their bags on the bag racks outside their classroom and move to normal morning supervised areas.
At the 8.38am bell, ALL students are to return to their classrooms for roll marking. There will be NO Friday parade on Friday 6 June.
Just after 8.40am, when class rolls are marked, class teachers will direct their students to where they need to be in preparation for the first event of the day.
Any students arriving after the 8:40am roll marking, MUST be signed in by their parent at the office.
If parents wish to take students home early (prior to 3.00pm), students MUST be signed out via the office by their parent.

Chelsea Baker Cup Winners
The St John’s girls played two round games against Kin Kora and Boyne Island. They beat both these teams by 3 tries to 1.
It was a great performance against Boyne who were not only a much bigger and more aggressive side, but most of their girls play in the local under 12 boys competition.
The winners of Pool A and Pool B then had to play off in the final for the Chelsea Baker Cup. St John’s had to play a very talented Clinton side set on winning. Our girls shut down Clinton and opened them up with a couple of great plays. Winning the final 4 tries to 2.
An excellent finish to the carnival.
